Washington, DC (My Sportsbook) - The Washington Nationals signed first baseman Nick Johnson to a one-year contract worth $1.45 million and avoided salary arbitration. The 26-year-old played in 73 games last season with the then-Montreal Expos and hit .251 with seven home runs and 33 RBI. Johnson's season ended prematurely last year when he was struck with a ground ball fracturing his cheekbone on August 20th. Right-handed pitchers Tony Armas, Jr. and Tomo Ohka are the only remaining Nationals who are eligible for arbitration.
