Tucson, AZ (My Sportsbook) - The Harness Tracks of America announced Friday that Dave Palone has won the award as Driver of the Year. This marks the second straight year and fourth time in the last six that Palone has captured the honor. Based at The Meadows in western Pennsylvania, Palone finished 2004 as the top driver with 669 wins and earned $4,676,309. In November, he notched his 10,000th career win at his home track. He became the fourth North American driver to accomplish the feat. Palone finished with 88 points in the association's scoring system, which awards points to the top 25 drivers in three categories. The 42-year-old not only was first in total wins, but also tops with in-the-money percentage. Palone ended 13th in earnings. A driver receives an additional 25 points for finishing among the top 25 in all three categories. |
