Cincinnati, OH (My Sportsbook) - Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis announced the firing of defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier on Wednesday. "I credit Leslie for his part in leading the defense to where it is today," said Lewis. "But I see this as the time to move to another stage in our team's evolution. Leslie has been a credit to our organization in every way." Frazier had been the defensive coordinator the last two seasons with the Bengals - both 8-8 campaigns. Before arriving in Cincinnati, Frazier served as the defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999-2002. He coached in college at Illinois from 1997-98 and was head coach at Trinity (IL) College from 1988-96. Frazier played cornerback for the Chicago Bears from 1981-86. "We are excited about the potential for our defense in 2005, as we had many young players show the ability to become impact performers," Lewis said. "We are working to put in place the best possible staff for their continued development."
