Jacksonville, FL (My Sportsbook) - The Jacksonville Jaguars fired offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave Tuesday after the team missed the playoffs and finished last in the AFC and 29th in the league in scoring. After spending two seasons as the offensive coordinator at the University of Virginia, Musgrave joined head coach Jack Del Rio's staff specifically to groom franchise quarterback Byron Leftwich. Despite the presence of such offensive stars as Leftwich, Fred Taylor and Jimmy Smith, Musgrave and the Jags averaged just 16.3 points per game this season. The Jags finished 9-7 and one win shy of the playoffs. Most notably, the Jaguars struggled in the red zone, on third downs and in short-yardage situations. After starting his career working with quarterbacks in Oakland, Musgrave's resume also features stops in Philadelphia, as an offensive coordinator, and Carolina, as a quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator.
