Lisbon, Portugal (My Sportsbook) - Benfica striker Nuno Gomes has an injured left knee, but will not need surgery. Gomes, a Portuguese international, injured the knee when he collided with Vitoria Setubal's Marco Tabuas on Sunday. Benfica, the Portuguese Superliga leaders, still went on to a 4-0 win. The club feared that Gomes tore ligaments in the knee, but scans Monday showed the injury is not as bad as first thought. It is unclear how long the 28-year- old will be out.
