Rotterdam, the Netherlands (My Sportsbook) - AZ Alkmaar denied Feyenoord the Dutch lead and moved within one point of second place with a 4-1 win on Sunday. Alkmaar stunned Feyenoord when Joris Mathijsen fire a shot into the back of the net in the 4th minute. Feyenoord was let back into the match just before the half when Alkmaar's Jan Kromkamp put a ball into his own goal leveling the score at 1-1. Feyenoord came out strong after half time but Kenneth Perez's back-to-back strikes in the 63rd and 76th minutes gave Alkmaar the 3-1 lead. Fustration set in for Feyenoord after that and hopes of a comeback were dashed after Pascal Bosschaart and Chong-Gug Song were shown red cards two and ten minutes after Perez's second strike. Robin Nelisse sealed the game in the 88th minute with Alkmaar's fourth goal of the match. With league leaders PSV drawing 0-0 with Utrecht on Saturday, Feyenoord could have taken the Dutch lead with a win on Sunday. But with Alkmaar winning the match it moved within a point of its victim and kept Feyenoord out of the lead. In Sunday's other action Ajax Amsterdam beat NEC Nijmegen 1-0, FC Den Bosch dropped its match with Heerenveen 2-4 and FC Groningen topped Den Haag 4-3.
