Chicago, IL (My Sportsbook) - Chicago White Sox slugger Frank Thomas underwent successful surgery Wednesday to repair a stress fracture in his left ankle. During the procedure, Thomas had debris removed from his ankle, a bone graft was performed, and two screws were inserted into the area. He will wear a cast for at least eight weeks with a recovery time between four-to-six months. The 36-year-old Thomas finished the 2004 season hitting .271 with 18 homers and 49 RBI in only 74 games. Thomas, who has played his entire 15-year career with the White Sox, has 436 career home runs. Thomas and Barry Bonds are the only active players with a .300 career average, 400 home runs, 1,000 RBI, 1,000 runs scored and 1,000 walks.
