Kansas City, MO (My Sportsbook) - Cleveland Indians pitcher Kyle Denney was shot in the right calf late Wednesday night after a bullet caught the team bus and grazed another player. The shooting occurred as the team rode to Kansas City International Airport following a game with the Royals. The shot was apparently fired into the side of one of the two team buses while on a ramp between Interstate 435 and I-70 and grazed outfielder Ryan Ludwick. The bullet went through Ludwick's pants before catching Denney. Cleveland's team trainers immediately removed the bullet from his calf and Denney, who was not seriously hurt, spent the night in the hospital The rest of the Indians were unharmed. There were no immediate suspects and it was not known if the team's bus was the intended target. The Indians eventually arrived at the airport without any further incidents and boarded a plane bound for Minneapolis early Thursday morning. Denney, who started Wednesday night's 5-2 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium, is expected to rejoin the Indians on Thursday in Minnesota. After getting called up from Triple-A Buffalo on Sept. 14, the 27-year-old Denney is 1-2 with a 9.56 ERA in four starts with Cleveland.
