New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Wide receiver Marvin Harrison of the
Indianapolis Colts, defensive end Jason Taylor of the
Miami Dolphins and kick returner Brandon Bennett of the
Cincinnati Bengals were named AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Month for November.
Harrison garnered the offensive honors after recording an NFL-best 42 receptions for 481 yards and five touchdowns. The Syracuse product also reached 600 career receptions during the month, accomplishing the feat in 102 games - 16 games sooner than the next quickest to reach the mark (Herman Moore, Detroit). Harrison also caught his 100th pass of the season during November, becoming the only NFL player to record 100 receptions for four straight years.
This is Harrison's second career AFC Offensive Player of the Month Award (September 1999).
Taylor earned the defensive award for the second straight month after recording 5.5 sacks and 15 tackles while also helping the Dolphins hold their opponents to 11.8 points per game. In addition, Taylor's big month allowed him to take over the AFC sack lead (11.0).
Bennett captured special teams honors. He returned 17 kickoffs for 565 yards Bennett captured special teams honors. This is Bennett's first AFC Special Teams Player of the Month Award.
In addition, New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey and Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney earned Offensive Rookie of the Month honors for November. Shockey, a first-round selection in the 2002 NFL Draft, recorded career highs with 11 receptions for 111 yards against Washington on November 17. Freeney, meanwhile, registered 4.0 sacks, 15 tackles, four forced fumbles and a pass defensed. He is currently second among NFL rookies in sacks with 7.0 (Julius Peppers, 11.0).
