(My Sportsbook) - Curt Schilling targets his eighth consecutive win this evening when the Boston Red Sox continue their four-game series with the Baltimore Orioles at Fenway Park.
Schilling's latest win came on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, as he allowed four runs on eight hits in 7 2/3 innings to improve to 20-6 on the year to go along with a 3.40 earned run average.
The 37-year-old righthander leads the American League in wins and last tasted defeat back on August 9. For the year, he is 11-1 at home with a 3.75 ERA.
Boston, which leads the league in scoring, has managed at least 10 runs in five of Schilling's last six starts.
Schilling, who started his major league career with Baltimore, has split his two starts with the O's this season and is 2-4 lifetime against them with a 4.71 ERA in six games.
In the opener of the set on Monday, B.J. Surhoff hit a grand slam during a five-run fourth inning and Baltimore rolled to a 9-6 win.
Tim Wakefield (11-10) was roughed up for eight runs -- seven earned -- on five hits and five walks. He struck out seven.
David Ortiz hit a two-run homer and Manny Ramirez drove in a pair of runs with a double for the Red Sox, who have lost three straight. Gabe Kapler scored twice for Boston, which is 4 1/2 games ahead of the Anaheim Angels in the American League wild card race.
The Red Sox still trail the New York Yankees by 4 1/2 games in the AL East. New York lost to Toronto on Monday.
Boston, which is in the midst of a seven-game homestand, is 51-24 in Beantown this season.
The Orioles have won eight of their 12 matchups with the Red Sox this season, including five of six in Fenway Park.
