Baltimore Orioles Team Report - September 21 ===
(My Sportsbook) - The Baltimore Orioles try to stay on the winning track this evening when they continue their four-game set with the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.
Baltimore will pin its hopes on righthander Rodrigo Lopez, who is 13-8 on the year with a 3.88 ERA. Lopez, though, has won his last three starts and is unbeaten in his last five outings. On Thursday against the Toronto Blue Jays, the 28-year-old righty picked up a victory, as he allowed four runs - three earned - on nine hits in six innings.
Lopez has three wins against the Red Sox this season and is 8-2 for his career against them with a 3.93 ERA in 14 games, 10 of which have been starts.
In the opener of the set on Monday, B.J. Surhoff hit a grand slam during a five-run fourth inning and Baltimore rolled to a 9-6 win. Javy Lopez drove in a pair of runs and scored once for the Orioles, who have won four of their last five games. Melvin Mora homered and scored three runs in the victory.
Jason Grimsley (5-6) threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings for the win, while Jorge Julio retired the Red Sox in order in the ninth for his 22nd save.
On the milestone watch, Baltimore's Rafael Palmeiro needs two extra-base hits to tie Carl Yastrzemski for eighth on the all-time list with 1,157. However, he left last night's game with a strained hamstring and is questionable for tonight's affair.
Baltimore has performed exceptionally on the road of late, winning 11 of its last 14 games away from Camden Yards and is 39-39 on the road this year.
The Orioles have won eight of their 12 matchups with the Red Sox this season, including five of six in Fenway Park.
