New York, NY (My Sportsbook) - Montreal Expos third baseman Tony Batista was named National League Player of the Week for the period of September 13-19. Batista led the league last week with hits (14), total bases (30) and runs batted in (15). In eight games, he batted .389 to go along with an .833 slugging percentage and a .450 on-base percentage. Batista also scored eight runs and eclipsed the 100-RBI plateau during a game against the Phillies on Friday. Other nominees for the award included Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez, Sammy Sosa and Moises Alou of the Cubs, Houston's Roger Clemens and Lance Berkman, Atlanta's J.D. Drew and Paul Byrd, Colorado's Vinny Castilla and Joe Kennedy, San Diego's Jay Payton and David Wells, and San Francisco's Brett Tomko.
