The same pitchers match up again Tuesday night in the opener of a key three-game series between these NL West clubs at Petco Park. The Dodgers enter Tuesday's action with a 2 1/2 game lead on San Francisco in the NL West, while the Padres are 6 1/2 games off the pace. Weaver is 0-1 in his last four outings. He suffered the loss last Thursday, giving up seven hits and three runs in seven innings. That snapped a five- decision winning streak. Weaver has been impressive on the road this season with an 8-4 mark, although his ERA is 4.02 outside Dodger Stadium. Weaver is 1-3 in five career games against the Padres. On Sunday, Shawn Green belted a two-run homer in the ninth inning to lift Los Angeles over Colorado, 7-6, in the rubber match of a three- game set at Coors Field. Adrian Beltre drove in three runs on two hits for the Dodgers, who won for just the second time in five games. In his last 14 games, Beltre is batting .377 (20-for-53) with 12 RBI. He leads the majors with 45 home runs, one more than Albert Pujols of the Cardinals. The Padres won three of the four meetings between the teams last week at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers still lead the season series, 9-7. |
