Charlotte, NC (My Sportsbook) - Carolina Panthers starting running back Stephen Davis is expected to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery Friday and could miss two-to-five weeks of action. According to Friday's edition of the Charlotte Observer, Davis suffered a knee cartilage injury at the end of Thursday's practice. Also, head coach John Fox is not expected to change the offensive scheme and running back DeShaun Foster will carry the load. Davis was used sparingly during Monday night's season-opening loss to the Green Bay Packers. Davis, last season's workhorse, carried the ball just nine times for 26 yards in the 24-14 setback. The 30-year-old Auburn product has 7,260 yards and 53 touchdowns on 1,710 carries in his career with Washington and Carolina. Davis also rushed for a career-best 1,444 yards last season -- his first as a Panther. Foster, meanwhile, had three carries for 12 yards and four receptions for 22 yards on Monday. The third-year pro out of UCLA opened eyes around the NFL last season with a hard-fought TD run versus the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship game.
