Cincinnati, OH (My Sportsbook) - The Cincinnati Bengals signed center Jerry Fontenot to a one-year contract Thursday. Financial terms were not disclosed. Fontenot, 37, will be playing his 16th season in the NFL after stints with the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints. Before being released as part of final cuts on September 5, Fontenot had played in 80 consecutive games for New Orleans from 1999-2003. He has played in 229 contests, including 189 starts. Due to injuries to centers Larry Moore and Rich Braham, Fontenot could start in Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins. "As far as I know I'm getting ready to go," said Fontenot. "I'm here to play." To make room for Fontenot on the roster, the Bengals placed rookie cornerback Greg Brooks on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
