=== Kansas City Royals Team Report - September 8 === (My Sportsbook) - Two of the worst teams in the American League square off this evening when the Kansas City Royals and Detroit Tigers continue their four-game set at Comerica Park. In the second game of the series on Tuesday, Calvin Pickering's RBI single snapped a seventh inning tie to help lift Kansas City to a 6-2 win. Pickering ended 2-for-4, while Dee Brown smacked a two-run homer and a solo shot. Jimmy Serrano (1-1) earned his first major league win, tossing three scoreless innings of relief for the Royals, who won for just the fifth time in their last 16 contests. Heading to the hill tonight for the Royals will be 20-year-old righthander Zack Greinke, who is coming off the best effort of his Major League career against the Tigers last Wednesday. In that contest Greinke scattered three hits over seven scoreless frames to improve to 7-9 on the year, while lowering his earned run average to 4.21. Over his last three starts, Greinke is 3-0 with a 1.73 ERA over his last four starts and has won five of six decisions overall. Greinke, considered the organization's best pitching prospect since Bret Saberhagen in 1984, will be making the third start of his young career versus Detroit. The Royals hold a 10-7 edge over the Tigers in the season series and Kansas City is 24-12 against Detroit since the start of the 2003 campaign. KC has lost seven of its last nine road games and is a miserable 19-51 away from home this season.
