J.C. Romero (7-1) retired the side in the eighth to earn the victory for the Twins, who won for the sixth time in their last eight games. Joe Nathan tossed a perfect ninth for his 39th save. David Newhan posted two hits for the Orioles, who lost for just the second time in their last seven games. Starting pitcher Matt Riley allowed one run on two hits and five walks in seven-plus innings.

Bronx, NY (My Sportsbook) - Jon Lieber posted a season-high nine strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings for the win, leading the New York Yankees to an 11-2 victory over Tampa Bay. Lieber (11-8) yielded two runs on nine hits without a walk. Gary Sheffield was 4-for-5 with two runs scored and Alex Rodriguez knocked in three runs for the Yankees, who have won three straight. Rocco Baldelli smacked a two-run homer and Aubrey Huff registered three hits for the Devil Rays, who fell for the ninth consecutive time their longest losing streak since dropping a club-record 15 in a row in 2002.

Arlington, TX (My Sportsbook) - David Dellucci and Mark Teixeira each drove in three runs and Kenny Rogers tossed seven solid innings to lead the Texas Rangers to a 10-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox in the second of a four- game series at Ameriquest Field. Rogers (16-7) allowed three runs on eight hits with two strikeouts for the Rangers, who won for just the second time in nine games. Alfonso Soriano homered in the victory. Carl Everett went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI for the White Sox, who saw their four-game winning streak halted.

Anaheim, CA (My Sportsbook) - Bartolo Colon struck out seven in seven strong innings for the win, and the Angels banged out 11 hits to beat Toronto 5-2 in the opener of a three-game series. Colon (14-11) yielded two runs on six hits and a walk for the Angels, who were coming off a three-game weekend sweep of Cleveland. Anaheim remained four games behind Boston for the AL wild card lead. Chone Figgins and Garrett Anderson homered. Gregg Zaun smacked a two-un homer for the Blue Jays, who have lost three of four.

Oakland, CA (My Sportsbook) - Gabe Kapler went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and finished with three RBI and Kevin Millar ended 3-for-3 with a homer, walk and three runs scored in Boston's 7-1 victory over Oakland at the Coliseum. Johnny Damon added a solo shot and Orlando Cabrera drove in two runs with a double for the Red Sox, who have won 19 of their last 21 games and remain 2 1/2 games behind New York for first place in the American League East and four games in front of second place Anaheim in the AL wild card race. Derek Lowe (14-10) threw 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball for the win. Eric Byrnes had two hits for Oakland, which has lost three straight and now leads the AL West by 1 1/2 games over Anaheim.
