Albany, NY (My Sportsbook) - Rico Pickett poured in a game-high 33 points as the ninth-seeded Manhattan Jaspers defeated the eighth-seeded Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds, 94-79, in the first round of the Metro-Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament. Darryl Crawford recorded a double-double in the win for Manhattan (11-19) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Adams scored 14 points, while George Beamon added 13. Shane Walker scored 26 points in the loss for Loyola-Maryland (13-17). Jamal Barney netted 13 points, while Brett Harvey added 10. The Jaspers took a healthy 51-36 lead into the intermission on the strength of 20-of-22 shooting from the foul line in the first half. The Greyhounds tried to use the long ball to erase the deficit, tossing up 14 three-pointers in the second stanza, but they only converted four en route to defeat. Manhattan took advantage of the Greyhounds' mistakes, scoring 28 points off of 17 Loyola-Maryland turnovers. The Jaspers move on to battle the top-seeded Siena Saints.
