Miami, FL (My Sportsbook) - Scott Green has been selected as the referee to head the seven-man crew that will officiate Super Bowl XLIV between the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. Green, who is concluding his 19th season as an NFL game official, previously served as the back judge in Super Bowls XXXVI and XXXVIII, both of which were won by the New England Patriots. He has officiated a total of 12 playoff games, including one conference championship. Joining Green will be umpire Undrey Wash, head linesman John McGrath, line judge Jeff Seeman, field judge Rob Vernatchi, side judge Greg Meyer and back judge Greg Steed. The Super Bowl crew has a combined 66 years of NFL officiating experience and has combined for 36 postseason assignments. Jim Lapetina is the replay assistant while the video operator is Jim Pearson. Under the NFL officiating program's evaluation system, the highest-rated officials at each position with the appropriate experience earn the right to work the Super Bowl. Super Bowl officials must have five years of NFL experience and previous playoff assignments.
