Buenos Aires, Argentina (My Sportsbook) - Former Argentina captain Roberto Ayala is set to return to his homeland after 15 seasons of playing in Europe as he will join Racing Club. The 36-year-old defender left Spanish side Real Zaragoza as a free agent and will be introduced at Racing on Wednesday, where he will join former coach Claudio Vivas. "They were the only club that really sat down with my agent and committed themselves to bringing me (back)," Ayala told reporters. "Others showed interest but never offered anything concrete." Ayala began his career at Ferro Carril Oeste before moving on to River Plate. He then left Argentina to play in Europe, where he hooked up with Napoli and then AC Milan in Italy, before heading to Spain to play for Valencia and Zaragoza. He earned 115 caps for Argentina during his international career and captained the side a record 63 times.
