LIVINGSTON BLANKS GIANTS

Bobby Livingston tossed a complete game three-hit shuout as the Inland Empire 66ers defeated the San Jose Giants, 5-0 in a California League contest. Livingston struck out six Giants as he improved to 12-5 on the season. Jesus Guzman and Carlos Arroyo each drove in two runs for the 66ers in the win.

ROSARIO TAMES SEAWOLVES

Francisco Rosario tossed seven strong innings and John-Ford Griffin knocked in three runs as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats blanked the Erie SeaWolves, 7-0, in the Eastern League Saturday afternoon. New Hampshire improved its record to 77-55 while Erie fell to 75-57. Rosario (1-4) held the SeaWolves hitless over his seven innings and struck out eight before being pulled. James Vermilyea lost the no-hitter but held Erie scoreless over two innings to complete the shutout. Griffin got the Fisher Cats on the board early with a bases-clearing double in the first inning and then scored later the same inning. Dominic Rich hit his eighth long ball of the season and finished the night 3-for-4 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored for New Hampshire. Erie's Joel Zumaya was shelled in his three innings of work and fell to 2-2 with the loss. Zumaya surrendered six runs on five hits and walked three.

MUD HENS STRUGGLES CONTINUE

Jeff Liefer drove in four runs as the Indianapolis Indians blew away the Toledo Mud Hens, 13-1, on Saturday night. The Indians took a 3-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Corey Hart and Chris Coste had RBI singles in the inning. Hart plated a run with a sacrifice fly in the second and Liefer chipped in with an RBI single to give Indianapolis a 5-0 lead. Indianapolis added two runs in the sixth and three scores in the seventh and eighth. Liefer connected on a two-run home run in the seventh inning, his 19th of the season. Peter Bergeron finished the game with four hits, including a triple, and two RBI. Matt Childers (5-5) picked up the win in 7 2/3rd innings. He allowed a run on eight hits and tallied eight strikeouts. Andy Van Hekken (9-6) was touched up for five runs, three earned, on eight hits in five innings and suffered the loss.

NALL ON THIS

TJ Nall, Eric Hull and Steve Schmoll combined on a four-hit shutout as the Jacksonville Suns outshined the Montgomery Biscuits, 5-0, in a Southern League game Saturday night. With the win, Jacksonville improved to 25-34 in the second half of the Southern League season while Montgomery fell to 23-37. Nall, who got the win and improved to 8-9, surrendered three hits and struck out nine in six scoreless innings. Hull did not allow a hit in one inning and Schmoll finished the shutout with two scoreless innings. Joel Guzman provided Jacksonville's offense going 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. Losing pitcher Jose Diaz (1-3) was touched for three runs on three hits in 4 2/3rd innings.

SKY SOX CLOSING IN ON CUBBIES

Erick Almonte and Shawn Garrett plated two runs apiece and Chris Gissell won his 12th game as the Colorado Springs Sky Sox beat the Albuquerque Isotopes, 8-2, in the Pacific Coast League Saturday night. Colorado upped its record to 72-62 while the Isotopes fell to 63-72. Almonte finished the night 3-for-4 including a double, a triple, two RBI and two runs scored. Garrett went 2-for-5 while Garrett Atkins scored two runs for the Sox. Gissell (12-2) held the 'Topes scoreless in his four innings of service out of the bullpen. Albuquerque's Justin Wayne suffered the loss and fell to 1-4. Wayne gave up five runs, four earned, on eight hits and four walks. Josh Wilson hit his fifth home run of the season and Mike Colangelo plated a run for the Isotopes.

WOOLARD SHINES FOR STARS

Glenn Woolard was impressive on the mound working eight scoreless innings as the Huntsville Stars defeated the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, 4-0, in a Southern League West Division game Saturday night. With the win, Huntsville improved to 31-30 while West Tenn fell to 27-33. Woolard surrendered just four hits in eight scoreless innings to earn the victory. He did not walk a batter and struck out five en route to his sixth victory. Huntsville's offense was led by Prince Fielder who went 2-for-2 with two RBI, two walks and scored a run. Jamie Gann contributed two RBI. Losing pitcher Andy Pratt (0-5) was touched for two runs on three hits in 5 2/3rd innings. He struck out seven

BEAVERS ALONE IN FIRST

Ben Risinger and Alex Fernandez knocked in two runs apiece while JJ Furmaniak scored twice as the Portland Beavers doubled up the Tacoma Rainiers, 6-3, in the Pacific Coast League Saturday night. Portland upped its record to 77-58 and now lead Tacoma (74-58) by 1 1/2 games in the Northern Division. Risinger and Fernandez both finished the night 1-for-2 while Furmaniak went 1- for-4 with an RBI. Miguel Ojeda hit his second long ball of the season for the Beavers. Matt Hampton picked up the win out of the bullpen and improved his record to 2-2. Hampton held the Rainiers hitless in his 1 1/3rd innings in relief. Mike Bynum pitched two scoreless innings en route to his fifth save of the season. Tacoma's Bill Simas took the loss and fell to 1-1. Simas surrendered one run on two hits and struck out two in 1 2/3rd frames. AJ Zapp and Pat Borders plated a run apiece while Mickey Lopez scored twice for the Rainiers.

INDIANS WIN EIGHTH STRAIGHT

Brian Slocum picked up his 15th win of the year with five innings of shutout ball to lead the Kinston Indians to their eighth straight win, a 5-2 win over the Wilmington Blue Rocks in the Carolina League. Slocum didnt allow a hit, walked three, and struck out five in the win. Eider Torres drove in three runs in the win for the Indians.
