Toronto, ON (My Sportsbook) - Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ed Belfour underwent surgery on his back Thursday. The procedure repaired a bulging disc in Belfour's back. Belfour, 39, played 59 games for Toronto last season posting a record of 34-19-6 with a 2.13 goals against average and 10 shutouts. He ranked second in the NHL in shutouts, establishing a new career-high. In the playoffs, he became just the 12th goaltender in history to register three shutouts in one playoff series when Toronto defeated Ottawa in the Conference Quarterfinals. Belfour is tied for third place in NHL history with 435 wins. |
