Toronto, ON (My Sportsbook) - Calgary Flames goaltender Miikka Kiprusoff will receive a huge increase in salary for the upcoming season after an arbitrator Monday awarded the Vezina Trophy finalist $2.95 million. The 27-year-old Kiprusoff earned $800,000 last season when he helped lead the Flames to their first postseason appearance in eight years. Calgary then made a surprising run through the playoffs, before losing in seven games to the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup finals. Kiprusoff, who was acquired from San Jose in November, ranked first in the NHL last season with a 1.69 goals-against average in 38 games, setting a new modern era record. He went 24-10-4 during the regular campaign and also tied for first in the league in save percentage with Minnesota's Dwayne Roloson (.933). Kiprusoff then posted a 15-11 record in the playoffs. The league's arbitration process is now complete for the summer.
