Boozer, Kirilenko help Utah top Detroit in OT

Salt Lake City, UT (My Sportsbook) - Carlos Boozer and Andrei Kirilenko totaled 22 points each and combined to score all 10 points in overtime, as the Utah Jazz pulled out a 100-97 win against the Detroit Pistons.

After Paul Millsap missed a potential game-winning 10-foot fadeaway jumper at the horn in regulation, things were all tied up two minutes into the extra frame.

Kirilenko then buried a jumper, and after a missed three by Ben Gordon, Boozer buried a jump shot of his own for a 98-94 lead with 1:39 left. Detroit's Will Bynum was sent to the line twice over the next 45 seconds and hit 3-of-4, but that still left the Pistons down one.

Kirilenko went to the line and made both to make it a three-point game with 9.8 ticks to go. Gordon air-balled a contested three-pointer at the buzzer as Utah escaped with the win, the team's ninth straight over Detroit.

"It's a big win for us," Boozer said. "To come back home after a big game, but every game for us right now is big for us. We're trying to move this train in the right direction with wins and learn as we go along. We'll continue to trust each other as we go along, so that's what we're doing, and we're having fun."

Ronnie Brewer added 15 points for the Jazz, who were coming off their first regular-season win in San Antonio since February 28, 1999 -- their second consecutive victory overall.

Gordon ended with a game-high 25 points, and Rodney Stuckey went for 18 and six assists for the Pistons, who fell to 0-3 on a four-game road trip and lost for a fourth straight time. Charlie Villanueva posted 17 points and eight rebounds in the loss.

"It's tough. I can't speak for everybody, but for me it's tough losing. Whenever we lose, every single game, I'm replaying it over and over in my mind until we get back home. It's just tough, man, especially being so close. We're right there against the great teams, against the solid-good teams."

Eric Maynor tied it up at 71 for Utah with a three-pointer 2 1/2 minutes into the fourth to set up a tight final period. The Jazz got to the hoop for three straight layups to go in front, 77-74, before a cold stretch set in for both teams.

Boozer connected on back-to-back jumpers to leave Utah up three with three minutes remaining. A Villanueva runner put Detroit back on top, 86-85, close to a minute later. The teams traded free throws before Kirilenko drained a three for a two-point edge at the one-minute mark.

Gordon was fouled with 22 ticks to go and hit both to sent the game to OT.

The Jazz opened up a 27-24 lead after the opening quarter, and a Brewer bucket with 6 1/2 to play until the break saw the hosts still leading, 38-32. The Pistons went on a 14-4 run from there to close out the half with Stuckey's six points during the stretch helping provide a 46-42 advantage.

Detroit remained in front until Brewer's jumper halfway through the third sparked a 12-1 run with two free throws from Boozer giving the hosts a 62-57 lead with 3:47 to go.

Detroit regained control late on a three-ball by Gordon and a Jason Maxiell alley-oop off a Stuckey pass to take a 68-64 edge into the fourth.

Game Notes

Utah kicked off a six-game homestand Saturday and will also face Oklahoma City, Chicago, Portland, Memphis and Indiana on its residency... Detroit will finish its trek in Phoenix on Sunday.
