Oakland, CA (My Sportsbook) - Olympic gold medalist Andre Ward claimed the WBA super middleweight belt from Danish champion Mikkel Kessler Saturday in a an 11th-round technical decision. At the time of the fight's end, Ward (21-0, 13 KOs) was ahead on all three scorecards, 98-92, 98-92 and 97-93. Kessler (42-2, 32 KOs) had previously defended his title in September with a TKO of Gusmyr Perdomo, but was unable to avoid several unintentional headbutts from Ward and an array of dominating punches. |
