Los Angeles, CA (My Sportsbook) - Jarome Iginla's first hat trick of the season propelled Calgary past Los Angeles, 5-2, at Staples Center.

Daymond Langkow and David Moss also scored and Jay Bouwmeester added a pair of assists for the Flames, who had dropped three of four coming in.

"I thought we had a really good game as a team after that first goal," Iginla said of his club's attitude following a loss in their previous game. "Our attitude was good today and we came here very positive. Nice to have an afternoon game and not have to sit around and wait for it."

Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 23 shots for his 12th win of the season.

Drew Doughty and Alexander Frolov each tallied once for the Kings, who have dropped two straight at home. Jonathan Quick suffered his second straight loss and fifth in seven starts by allowing all five goals on 32 shots.

Langkow's tally at 7:22 of the third period gave Calgary the lead once again. The score came with Iginla in the penalty box for tripping. Iginla then finished off his trifecta and atoned for his mistake for a 4-2 game with 4:07 to play.

Moss added the exclamation point on a power-play score inside the final minute.

Iginla picked up the game's first goal just 13 seconds in on a slick wrister and the Flames guarded that lead to intermission.

The Kings tallied twice in a 38-second span early in the second period as Doughty scored at 3:22 and Frolov following at four-minutes even.

Iginla struck again, this time while Calgary had a two-man edge before seven minutes elapsed, and LA settled for a 2-2 tie after 40 minutes despite outshooting the visitors 12-7 in the middle period.

"Didn't start very well, obviously getting down," said Kings head coach Terry Murray. We bounced back, I mean we got the two goals quickly, got a nice lead, but they called a timeout and they seemed to get re-energized. We took too many penalties here today. Two five-on-threes, and then four-on-fives, too much of giving them opportunities to get back into the game."

Game Notes

Calgary won all four meetings last season and have taken 11 of the last 13 matchups dating back to October, 2006...Iginla has scored 11 times over his last nine games after scoring four goals in 12 October contests. His last three-goal game occurred on October 23, 2008 at Nashville.
