Homestead, FL (My Sportsbook) - Carl Edwards will start on the pole for Saturday's Ford 300 Nationwide Series race after topping the charts in qualifying at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Edwards, who won last week's race at Phoenix, turned a lap at 168.366 m.p.h. (32.073 seconds) for his series-leading seventh pole of the season and the 18th of his career.

Ryan Newman qualified 0.07 seconds behind Edwards to claim the outside pole. Jeff Burton took the third spot, while Joe Gibbs Racing teammates Joey Logano and Kyle Busch rounded out the top-five.

Busch will clinch the Nationwide championship as soon as he takes the green flag for the season-ending race.

Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, Brad Keselowski, Scott Speed and Brendan Gaughan qualified sixth through 10th, respectively.

Erik Darnell crashed before his qualifying run and will have to start from the rear of the field in a backup car.

Nine drivers failed to qualify. They were: Jeremy Clements, Chase Austin, John Borneman III, Parker Kligerman, Morgan Shepherd, Eddie MacDonald, Jennifer Jo Cobb, Brian Keselowski and Benny Gordon.

The 300-mile race is scheduled to begin around 4:30 p.m. (et).
