Ducks' Perry puts point streak on the line versus Sharks

(My Sportsbook) - The Ducks' Corey Perry will try to extend the longest active point streak in the NHL tonight versus one of the league's top teams, as Anaheim hosts the San Jose Sharks at Honda Center.

Perry has recorded at least a point in each of his last 13 games, a career best, and is tied for fourth in the NHL with 26 points. The forward has nine goals and 10 helpers over his run, picking up a pair of assists in Thursday's 4-3 overtime win over Tampa Bay.

The Ducks snapped a season high-tying four-game skid, erasing a 3-0 deficit on goals by Teemu Selanne, Ryan Getzlaf and Bobby Ryan. Scott Niedermayer then gave Anaheim the win by scoring just 52 seconds into overtime.

"We showed some resiliency," Ryan said. "In the past, we would have let those three goals really go to our heart, and that would have been a time of self- destruction for us. But as a group, we pulled tonight and grinded out the two points."

Jonas Hiller stopped 21-of-24 shots for Anaheim, which scored three power-play goals and kicked off a seven-game homestand by winning its third straight at Honda Center. The Ducks are 5-6-0 overall at home.

Perry has eight goals and five assists in 26 career games versus the Sharks, but went without a point and finished a minus-three in Anaheim's season- opening 4-1 loss to San Jose back on October 3. Hiller allowed four goals on 37 shots in that one.

The victory was San Jose's fourth in five games versus the Ducks and was also its third straight win in Anaheim.

The Ducks will have to slow down a Sharks' offense that features the top goal scorer in the league and is coming off a 6-3 victory over Philadelphia last night.

Dany Heatley notched his second hat trick of the season and ninth of his career in the victory, giving him a league-best 17 goals on the season. Joe Thornton matched a club record with four assists, including the 600th of his career, and is tops in the league with 24 helpers. He is also second in the NHL with 30 points.

"When you have a chance to put [me and Thornton on the same line], it opens up a lot of room," Heatley said. "In the first period, I thought I could have had two or three. It's just fun to move the puck and skate and create chances."

Ryane Clowe and Manny Malhotra each had a goal and an assist for the Sharks, who had dropped three of four coming into the game. Evgeni Nabokov made 26 saves in the win.

San Jose, which leads the NHL with 34 points, is 8-5-2 on the road this season.
