Carson, CA (My Sportsbook) - England midfielder David Beckham does not accept that his imminent return to AC Milan will guarantee his place in Fabio Capello's World Cup squad. The former international captain will return to Italy in the new year to reprise his loan spell with the Serie A giants following the end of the MLS season for the Los Angeles Galaxy. The 34-year-old midfielder made the move last season at the behest of Capello, who told the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star that he needed to play top-level European football to prolong his international career. But Beckham does not accept that returning to Milan necessarily secures his place on the plane to South Africa. "Nothing has been said to me about the World Cup squad because I think there is still a lot of time left before that," Beckham said. "But me going to Milan doesn't guarantee me being in a World Cup squad. "It gives me a chance of playing well and being noticed by the manager, but it doesn't guarantee anything. "You only deserve to be somewhere if you are doing well. I always work hard and hopefully I will do well. "But, like I said, nothing is guaranteed in life and especially in football.
