Seattle, WA (My Sportsbook) - The 14th-ranked Washington Huskies continue a five-game homestand to begin the 2009-10 season, as they welcome the San Jose State Spartans to Seattle for a non-conference clash from Bank of America Arena.

Lorenzo Romar's Huskies opened up the season by hosting the Athletes In Action Classic this past week and swept the event with wins over Wright State (74-69), Belmont (96-78) and most recently, Portland State (111-55).

George Nessman's Spartans are also undefeated on the young season, although they have played just one game. On Monday, SJSU opened the season with a resounding 89-63 rout of William Jessup.

These two teams have met just one prior time on the hardwood, an 88-69 Washington victory back in 1976.

The Spartans had no problems offensively in their season-opener, as five players finished in double figures against William Jessup. Justin Graham led the way with 18 points, while fellow guard Adrian Oliver finished with 11. The frontcourt was active as well, with forwards Chris Jones and Kyle Thomas adding 13 and 12 points, respectively, followed by center Chris Oakes' 12 points. SJSU was also dominant on the boards, with both Oakes and Oliver recording double-doubles. Oakes recorded his 12 career double-double with 15 rebounds. Oliver was strong as well with a career-high 11 caroms. The Spartans grabbed 62 rebounds in all, falling just three shy of tying the WAC record of 65 set by SJSU last year.

The Huskies made light work of Portland State last time out, thanks to a scorching .606 shooting from the field. Quincy Pondexter led all scorers with 29 points. Pondexter, who hit 11-of-12 shots from the floor, recorded a double-double with a game-high 13 rebounds. Explosive guard Isaiah Thomas was 8-of-14 from the floor and finished with 21 points and six caroms. Venoy Overton added 11 points to the cause, while Justin Holiday came off the bench with 10. Washington not only showed its offensive capabilities in the win, but dominated on the boards (47-16) and forced the Vikings into 20 turnovers. Thomas and Pondexter are off to fast starts this season as both have been able to fill up the basket. Thomas is shooting .568 from the floor en route to 24.7 ppg. Pondexter is draining a ridiculous 63.9 percent of his shots, pouring in 22.0 ppg. Matthew Bryan-Amaning has provided scoring support with 11.3 ppg.
