Portland, OR (My Sportsbook) - Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge each scored 20, and Portland nearly blew a 20-point lead in the final quarter before holding off Detroit, 87-81, at the Rose Garden.

Steve Blake added 17 points, while Andre Miller tallied 10 points and 11 assists for the Trail Blazers, who won for the seventh time in eight games.

"We just blew that lead. We tried to get our starters back in there late," said Roy. "We did the best we could trying to get in that game once they had a flow. We held them off."

Rodney Stuckey scored 11 of his game-high 21 points in the final quarter, but the Pistons lost for a third straight time. Charlie Villanueva added 20 points in defeat.

"I think we played terrible basketball the first three quarters, that fourth quarter, we turned it around, but we need to play like that a whole game," said Villanueva. "We were right there; we were so close, with a very good team...it's been kind of the theme, we dig ourselves into a big hole and then try to dig ourselves out. We need to play 48 minutes of basketball. If we play together and get open shots, we should be fine."

Portland carried a 70-50 lead into the last quarter, but shot just 4-of-16 from the field over the final 12 minutes. That allowed the Pistons to trim what was once a 72-52 deficit to one point, but Detroit never got over the hump and lost to the Blazers for a third straight meeting.

Aldridge's hook shot provided Portland's last 20-point lead with 9:47 left in game, but Detroit rallied thanks to a 17-2 spurt later in the quarter. A three-pointer by Villanueva moved the Pistons within 78-75 with 1:29 left. Blake then lost control of the ball in the corner, leading to a Villanueva layup for a one-point difference with 1:05 left.

Blake then missed a three-pointer from the left wing, but got his own long rebound and made another shot from nearly the same spot for a four-point lead with 25.9 seconds to go.

Stuckey made two foul shots, but Miller countered with two at the line with 20.8 seconds remaining.

Villanueva's tip-in again had the Pistons within two, at 83-81, with 10.5 seconds left, but Blake and Miller each hit a pair of free throws in the closing time.

The Blazers led 21-17 after 12 minutes and extended that margin to 48-38 at the half. A hook shot by Villanueva trimmed the deficit to 54-46, but a three- pointer by Roy started a quarter-ending 18-4 burst.

Game Notes

Greg Oden had six points, 10 rebounds and three blocks for Portland...Ben Gordon went 4-of-12 from the field for 11 points for the Pistons, who also received 12 rebounds from Ben Wallace...Blazers forward Travis Outlaw had successful surgery on Wednesday to repair a stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot...Wednesday's game marked the 100th meeting between the teams in the series history. Portland leads the series, 53-47...All nine Portland wins this season have been decided by six points or more, while all four losses have been decided by six points or less...The Trail Blazers have now won 20 straight games against teams under .500, dating back to last season...Detroit is now 0-4 in the second game of back-to-backs this season.
