Memphis, TN (My Sportsbook) - Rudy Gay and Zach Randolph each netted 21 points as Memphis gained its first two-game winning streak of the season with a 106-91 triumph over the
Los Angeles Clippers.
Marc Gasol tallied 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists for the Grizzlies, who also got 16 points from O.J. Mayo. Memphis, which never trailed, shot 54.3 percent from the field.
It was the first game for the Grizzlies since they parted ways with disgruntled guard Allen Iverson. He signed with Memphis as a free agent in September, missed the first three games of the season with a hamstring injury before returning, but was clearly unhappy about not starting.
Baron Davis scored 23, including 15 in the opening quarter, to lead the Clippers, who lost for the fifth time in six games. Chris Kaman added 17 points and six rebounds in defeat.
Randolph had 12 of his points in the opening period, guiding the Grizzlies to a 27-23 lead after 12 minutes.
A layup by Craig Smith had the Clippers within 33-31, but Memphis widened its lead to double-digits as Mayo's pull-up jumper made it 45-35 with nearly five minutes left in the second. The Grizzlies led by the same margin, at 55-45, at the half.
The Grizzlies were in front by a double-digit difference the entire final 24 minutes. Gay's jumper moved the cushion to 80-60 with two minutes remaining in the third. Ahead 82-64 after 36 minutes, the Grizzlies allowed the Clippers to go 13-of-22 from the field in the fourth, but the decision was already well in hand.
