Saratoga Springs, NY (My Sportsbook) - The title of champion three-year- old filly for 2004 may very well be decided on Saturday with the running of the $750,000 Alabama Stakes at Saratoga. The 1 1/4 mile race is being conducted for the 124th time.

Leading the class at this point of the season is Ashado. Trained by Todd Pletcher, the filly is coming off an impressive win in the Coaching Club American Oaks last month at Belmont Park. Ashado will be ridden by John Velazquez for Starlight Stables and start from post six in the nine horse field. This year she has won three of five starts with two second place finishes and $994,640 in earnings. In her career Ashado has won more than $1.6 million while winning 7-of-11 races.

Breaking from the inside post will be Delaware Oaks winner Yearly Report. Yearly Report will have Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey in the saddle for owner Golden Eagle Farm and trainer Bob Baffert. The filly also claimed the Black-Eyed Susan Stakes this year. In her career Yearly Report has won five of six starts for $678,000.

Mother Goose winner Stellar Jayne will start from post four with Robby Albarado riding. In the Mother Goose, Stellar Jayne claimed a 2 1/2 length win over Ashado. The fillies reversed the finish in the Coaching Club American Oaks. Stellar Jayne is owned by Spendthrift Farm and trained by D. Wayne Lukas. In her career the filly has earned $682,000 out of ten starts.

Completing the field for Alabama , in post position order, are Susan's Angel, Fleet Indian, Honor Point, A Lulu ofa Menifee, Society Selection and Last Song.

The Alabama is the final race in New York's Triple Tiara for three-year-old fillies. The first two races were the Mother Goose and the Coaching Club American Oaks. The Alabama will be race 10 on Saturday at Saratoga with post-time set for 5:50 (et). It will be shown live on ESPN.
