(My Sportsbook) - The surprising
Sacramento Kings hope to put the finishing touches on a perfect four-game homestand tonight when they play host to a few familiar faces as the
Chicago Bulls invade ARCO Arena.
Tuesday's contest is the first matchup between these two teams since their blockbuster trade last February in which Chicago sent Andres Nocioni, Drew Gooden, Michael Ruffin and Cedric Simmons to California's capital for Brad Miller and John Salmons.
On the floor, the Kings won their fourth straight overall and improved to 3-0 on their residency Friday when second-year power forward Jason Thompson had a career-high 27 points and brought down 11 rebounds, as Sacramento downed the Houston Rockets, 109-100.
Beno Udrih was 9-of-15 shooting with four three-pointers to post 22 points, and rookie Tyreke Evans continued to make a name for himself by totaling 20 points, six boards and four assists, becoming the first Kings rookie since Lionel Simmons in 1990-91 to net four consecutive 20-point games.
"I'm just playing. The first couple games I was just thinking too much. After that I said I just got to go out there and play like it's another game and I did that and feel comfortable now," Evans said.
Nocioni added 15 points and seven rebounds for the Kings, who last won four in a row Mar. 30-Apr. 5, 2008, having suffered through a league and franchise- worst 17-65 season last year.
Sacramento's last five-game run was from Jan. 31-Feb. 10, 2007 and the club hasn't won four straight at home since Mar. 13-26, 2008.
The Bulls, who are kicking off a grueling six-game road trip, snapped a two- game skid on Saturday in the Windy City when Luol Deng ended with 19 points and nine rebounds, and Kirk Hinrich added 19 points and seven assists to lead Chicago to a 94-88 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.
Joakim Noah posted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds for the Bulls. Salmons, Derrick Rose and Miller each chipped in 14 points for the victors.
"I thought they did a good job running us in the first half," said Deng. "They're very athletic, they go out and run. We did a better job in the second half, defensively of getting back and taking away their transition efforts."
Chicago, which has won two straight and three of four overall vs. Sacramento, will also face the LA Lakers, Denver, Portland, Utah and Milwaukee on its trip.
