Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - ARKANSAS STATE: The Red Wolves' losing ways continued this past weekend, as they were dealt a 35-18 setback by Florida Atlantic. It was the third loss in a row for ASU (2-7, 1-4), which managed 344 total yards on the day. Redshirt freshman Ryan Aplin, making his first start at quarterback, completed 20-of-27 pass attempts for 168 yards and a score. He also paced the team with 82 yards on the ground. Josh Arauco even enjoyed a solid day, as he booted four field goals for ASU. The Red Wolves will stay on the road to take on Middle Tennessee this coming weekend.
FLORIDA ATLANTIC: Jeff Van Camp threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Owls to a 35-18 triumph of Arkansas State over the weekend. He finished the day 18-of-27 for FAU (3-6, 3-2), which put a stop to a two-game slide. Jason Harmon was the team's top receiver, pulling in four balls for 85 yards and a score. Tailback Alfred Morris caught a touchdown and went for 117 yards and two mores scores on the ground. The Owls gained 396 total yards as a team and the defense even pinched in with three sacks. FAU will head to the road this weekend to take on division-leading Troy.
FLORIDA INTERNATIONAL: Wayne Younger ran 23 yards for the go-ahead score with 5:08 remaining and the Golden Panthers' defense held strong, as FIU clipped North Texas, 35-28, this past weekend. FIU (3-7, 2-5) rallied from two 14- point deficits for its second win in three games. The Panthers were outgained 513-258 on the day, but forced two turnovers, one of which was a 26-yard interception return for a touchdown by Peter Riley. Quarterback Paul McCall managed the offense with 85 yards and a touchdown on 12-of-18 pass attempts, while the team's ground attack went for 173 yards and three scores. The Panthers will take a break from their league slate this weekend to face top- ranked Florida.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE: The Blue Raiders scored 20-unanswered points over the final two quarters, as they came away with a 34-17 win over ULL this past weekend. MT (7-3, 5-1) gained 506 yards of total offense, including 287 rushing, as it won its fourth consecutive game. Dwight Dasher threw for 219 yards and a pair of scores, in addition to contributing 89 yards to the ground attack. D.D. Kyles also turned in a noteworthy performance, as he rushed for 177 yards on 20 carries. MT's defense even stepped up, as the unit forced two turnovers and recorded five sacks. Jamari Lattimore returned a pick 20 yards to paydirt and he also had a fumble recovery in the win. The Blue Raiders will wrap up their home slate this weekend by hosting Arkansas State.
NORTH TEXAS: The Mean Green was outscored 21-0 over the final two quarters, as it suffered a 35-28 loss to FIU this past weekend. NT (2-8, 1-6) drove to the FIU 10-yard line in the final minutes, but turned the ball over on downs for its second loss in a row. The Mean Green outgained FIU, 513-258, but committed two turnovers and a had punt blocked in the second half. Lance Dunbar recorded his sixth 100-yard effort of the season, as he toted 24 times for 119 yards and a two scores. Quarterback Riley Dodge added 84 yards and a score on 19 carries, in addition to completing 28-of-37 pass attempts for 314 yards and another touchdown. Jamaal Jackson reeled in nine of those passes for 90 yards, while Darius Carey grabbed five balls for 78 yards and a score. NT will step away from the SBC this coming weekend and host Army in Denton.
TROY: The Trojans stepped outside of the conference this past weekend and were hammered by Arkansas, 56-20. Troy (7-3) gave up 592 yards to the SEC member, and committed four turnovers. Levi Brown was guilty of three giveaways on interceptions and he finished the game with 321 yards on 29-of-50 pass attempts. Troy's defense didn't help matters either, surrendering 405 yards and five scores through the air, as the team had its lengthy seven-game winning streak snapped. The Trojans will now return back to SBC play, where they are 6-0, to take on FAU this coming weekend.
UL-LAFAYETTE: The Ragin' Cajuns managed just 293 yards of offense and failed to score a point in the second half of an eventual 34-17 loss to Middle Tennessee this past weekend. ULL (5-5, 3-3) turned the ball over twice, one of which was returned for a touchdown, and also surrendered 506 total yards to MT. Chris Masson guided the team in defeat by throwing for 220 yards and a score despite being sacked five times. He also had a rushing touchdown. Losers of three of their last four games, the Cajuns have two more opportunities to become bowl-eligible, starting with ULM this weekend.
UL-MONROE: Rodney Lovett's three-yard touchdown run with just over five minutes to play helped the Warhawks rally past Western Kentucky, 21-18, over the weekend. ULM (6-4, 5-1), which is now bowl-eligible for the second time in three years, scored 14 of its 21 points in the final quarter to advert a near upset against the winless Hilltoppers. Lovett accounted for 56 of the team's 290 rushing yards, while Frank Goodin headed the charge with 169 yards and a score on 19 carries. Quarterback Trey Revell added 40 yards and a score on eight carries, although he wasn't as successful with his arm, throwing for 151 yards and two interceptions. Winners of two straight, ULM will play its final road game of the regular season at ULL this Saturday.
WESTERN KENTUCKY - Casey Tinius missed a game-tying 32-yard field goal with 1:22 left, as the Hilltoppers remained winless following a 21-18 loss to ULM this past weekend. Tinius had hit four straight field goals prior to the miss, as WKU's (0-10, 0-6) losing streak was extended to 18 games, the longest in the nation. The Toppers managed 383 total yards, including 195 rushing, in the game, but allowed 441 total yards to ULM. Bobby Rainey led the team in the loss with 134 yards on 16 carries, while Jake Gaebler pulled in seven balls for 106 yards. It was the first game since the school announced head coach David Elson would not be retained following the 2009 season. WKU has the weekend off to prepare for its next bout against Florida Atlantic on November 28th.
