Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - AKRON: The Zips suffered their eighth loss on the year this past Friday with a 56-17 setback to Temple. Akron scored all 17 of its points in the first quarter, but the team could do nothing right the rest of the way. The Zips finished with just 247 total yards, including just 135 yards through the air. Patrick Nicely threw for just 99 yards and one score, but was intercepted once, while Jared Wackerly completed 4-of-5 passes for 36 yards in the loss. The ground game was not effective in the loss, as the team rumbled for just 112 yards on 3.9 yards per attempt. Defensively, the Zips had no answer to Temple's ground game, as Akron was gashed for 258 yards and five touchdowns on 4.8 yards per attempt. The Zips will take on Bowling Green this upcoming Friday before closing out their season against Eastern Michigan.
BALL STATE: The Cardinals fell to 1-9 this past Thursday with a tough, 26-20 setback to Northern Illinois. The Cardinals only totaled 301 yards in the loss, and the majority of the damage was caused by the ground game, which rumbled for 167 yards on 4.3 yards per attempt. Cory Sykes led the way with 75 yards, while MiQuale Lewis added 68 yards on nine totes. Tanner Justice was not overwhelming under center, but the quarterback did throw for 134 yard and one score on 11-of-19 passing. The loss took away from an otherwise outstanding performance by the defense, as Ball State held NIU to just 225 total yards. The Cardinals will trying to grab a win on Wednesday when they host Central Michigan.
BOWLING GREEN: The Falcons went into halftime against Miami-Ohio tied at 14 apiece, but Bowling Green exploded for 21 second half points en route to a 35-14 win. Tyler Sheehan and Freddie Barnes continued their dominance over MAC opponents, as Sheehan threw for 199 yards and three scores. Two of those touchdowns went to Barnes, who finished the game with 109 yards on 10 receptions. Barnes also scored a touchdown on the ground as well, but the team's rushing attack was led by Chris Bullock who rumbled for 81 yards and one score on 11 carries. Not to be overlooked was the play of the defense, as Bowling Green held Miami-Ohio to just 295 total yards. The Falcons forced five turnovers in the win, and also grabbed six sacks. Bowling Green will close out its regular season with back-to-back home games against Akron and Toledo.
BUFFALO: The Bulls dropped their third straight game this past Tuesday with a 27-24 setback to Ohio. Even though the Bulls were defeated they still racked up 441 total yards. Zach Maynard threw for 230 yards and two touchdowns in the loss, but the quarterback also tossed two interceptions. Jerry Davis also saw a few snaps under center, and threw for 86 yards and one touchdown. All three touchdown passes went the way of Naaman Roosevelt, who finished the game with 165 yards on eight receptions. Defensively the Bulls held Ohio to just 115 rushing yards on 3.5 yards per carry, but the unit did allow two rushing touchdowns in the matchup. Josh Copeland led the way with nine tackles in the loss and also collected two TFLs. Buffalo will close out its season with back- to-back road matchups against Miami-Ohio and Kent State,
CENTRAL MICHIGAN: The Chippewas rebounded from their brutal loss to Boston College by whooping up on Toledo, 56-28, in their last matchup. The Chippewas racked up 509 total yards in the contest, including 166 rushing yards on 4.4 yards per attempt. Bryan Schroeder led the way for CMU with 105 yards and two scores, while Dan LeFevour scored four touchdowns on the ground. LeFevour also threw for 341 yards and two touchdowns in the win. Antonio Brown was the main target for LeFevour, as the wideout hauled in 13 passes for 129 yards and one touchdown. Central Michigan allowed 353 total yards in the contest, but the defense forced five turnovers, including four interceptions. Central Michigan will try to remain flawless in conference play when the Chippewas take on Ball State on Wednesday.
EASTERN MICHIGAN: The Eagles fell to 0-10 on the season with a 35-14 loss to Western Michigan on Saturday. The Eagles racked up 364 total yards in the contest, but the team could not overcome its six turnovers. EMU rushed for 178 yards in the contest, but the majority of the damage was caused by Alex Gillett, who rushed for 105 yards and one score. Unfortunately the quarterback was not as good with his arm, as Gillett threw for just 186 yards and one score, but was intercepted three times and sacked on four different occasions. The Eagles will close out their season on the road against Toledo and Akron.
KENT STATE: The Golden Flashes were idle this past weekend, but the team will return to the field this upcoming Saturday when the team travels to Philadelphia to battle Temple. The last time KSU was on the field the team was defeated by Akron, 28-20.
MIAMI-OHIO: The RedHawks suffered another loss on the year after falling to Bowling Green, 35-14. Zac Dysert scored two rushing touchdowns, but the quarterback had an awful game throwing the ball, as the signal caller finished with just 259 yards and was intercepted three times and sacked on six different occasions. Although Dysert scored two rushing touchdowns, the ground game for Miami-OH was bottled up for just 36 yards on 27 carries. The RedHawks will close out their regular season against Buffalo on November 18th.
NORTHERN ILLINOIS: The Huskies only racked up 225 total yards against Ball State in their last matchup, but despite the poor offensive display Northern Illinois grabbed a 26-20 victory. Nathan Palmer led the ground game with 69 yards on just three carries, while Chad Spann added 63 yards and one score on 11 totes. Chandler Harnish and DeMarcus Grady both saw time under center, and both players threw touchdowns. Harnish completed all nine of his attempts for 60 yards, while Grady finished with 31 yards on 4-of-5 efficiency. Northern Illinois will close out its season with two tough matchups, as the Huskies will have to battle Ohio and Central Michigan on the road.
OHIO: The last time the Bobcats were in action the team grabbed a slim, 27-24 decision over Buffalo. The Bobcats rumbled for 115 yards on the ground, but averaged just 3.5 yards per attempt. Chris Garrett churned out a team-best 68 yards, while Vince Davidson and Tyler Tettleton both scored rushing touchdowns. Theo Scott threw for 221 yards on 22-of-28 passing, but it was wideout LaVon Brazill that threw the team's lone touchdown pass. When he was not throwing the football, Brazill was on the receiving end of it, and finished the game with 99 yards on 10 receptions. Ohio allowed 441 total yards in the contest, but the defense forced three turnovers and held the Bulls to just 5- of-14 on third down attempts. Next up for Ohio will be a home matchup against Northern Illinois.
TEMPLE: Chester Stewart tossed a pair of touchdowns and ran for two more as the Owls clobbered Akron, 56-17. Stewart finished the contest 6-of-11 for 145 yards passing for the Owls as they won their eighth straight game. Stewart also carried the ball seven times for 28 yards. However, it was Bernard Pierce that led the rushing attack, as he churned out 97 yards and one score on 19 totes. Matt Brown added 67 yards on 17 carries for Temple, which finished the game with 258 rushing yards on 54 attempts. The Owls put up 403 yards of total offense, scoring all four times they had the ball in the red zone, while also limiting Akron to a mere 247 yards of offense in the win. Next up for Temple will be a home matchup against Kent State.
TOLEDO: The Rockets were clearly overmatched against Central Michigan in their last contest, as Toledo was pounded by the Chippewas, 56-28. DaJuane Collins rushed for 40 yards and two scores on 15 carries for the Rockets, who have lost three straight games and four of their last five. Aaron Opelt connected on 14-of-22 passes for 128 yards, a touchdown, and three interceptions before leaving the contest after hurting his right shoulder that has bothered him throughout the year. Austin Dantin took over under center and completed 6-of-9 passes for 91 yards and an interception. Kenny Stafford had a TD catch, while Morgan Williams rushed for 31 yards and a score on nine carries in setback. Next up for Toledo will be a home meeting with Eastern Michigan.
WESTERN MICHIGAN: Tim Hiller threw for four touchdowns as the Broncos took advantage of six Eastern Michigan turnovers en route to a 35-14 victory. The Broncos snapped a two-game losing skid with the victory. Brandon West ran for 140 yards and a touchdown for Western Michigan, which bounced back from a loss to Michigan State in its last outing. Jordan white hauled in 10 receptions for 140 yards, while Robert Arnheim finished the game with 87 yards and one touchdown on three catches. Western Michigan will close out its regular season on Tuesday, November 24th when the Broncos host Ball State.
