Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - CINCINNATI: On Friday, November 13th, Cincinnati improved to 10-0 for the first time in program history with a 24-21 decision over West Virginia. Tony Pike threw two touchdown passes in a limited role in his return from a forearm injury, and Isaiah Pead ran for 175 yards and a score. Armon Binns and D.J. Woods caught the touchdown passes for the Bearcats, who had never before beaten West Virginia at Nippert Stadium in seven tries. Pike was 2-of-4 for 16 yards, as the majority of the snaps went to Zach Collaros, who finished 17- of-24 for 205 yards with an interception. Cincinnati head coach Brian Kelly opted to start Collaros after he impressed in three starts in place of Pike. The next scheduled game for the Bearcats will take place on Friday, November 27th, against Illinois.
CONNECTICUT: UConn was idle this past weekend and will return to action this Saturday against Notre Dame. In the most recent outing for the Huskies back on November 7th, they nearly knocked off conference power Cincinnati on the road. Unfortunately, almost simply equates to just another loss at the end of the day, and the Huskies fell to 4-5 overall and 1-4 in conference with a 47-45 defeat. Jordan Todman powered Connecticut with 162 yards and four TDs on 26 carries, as the team finished with 462 total yards. Zach Frazer ended up with 261 yards and a score on 19-of-32 completions, but the Huskies missed a potential game-tying two-point conversion late in the fourth quarter and fell to their third consecutive loss. They allowed 711 total yards, and it is hard to believe that the final score was so close considering that statistic.
LOUISVILLE: On Saturday, Adam Froman hit Josh Chichester with a 15-yard touchdown with 1:24 remaining in the game and Chris Philpott added the extra- point to give the Cardinals a 10-9 win over the Syracuse Orange. The victory was the first for the Cardinals in five conference games. Froman went 9-of-18 for 117 yards with one pick and the lone touchdown. Give a ton of credit to the Louisville defense in the clash, as it limited Syracuse to 266 total yards. The team's offense did very little, posting just 151 yards, but it proved to be enough. The Cardinals will be back in action this coming weekend against South Florida.
PITTSBURGH: Dion Lewis rushed for 152 yards and the eventual game-winning 50- yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, as Pittsburgh survived a Notre Dame rally for a 27-22 victory on Saturday night at Heinz Field. Jonathan Baldwin caught five passes for 142 yards and a TD from Bill Stull, who threw for 236 yards on 15-of-27 attempts in the Panthers' sixth straight win. Pitt will determine its own fate in the Big East with a rivalry game against West Virginia on November 27th and a battle against unbeaten Cincinnati a week later. The Panthers have scored at least 24 points in every game this season, and they rolled up 429 total yards against the Fighting Irish.
RUTGERS: South Florida entered Piscataway last week as a nationally-ranked team, but Rutgers dominated the Bulls on both sides of the ball en route to a 31-0 shutout victory. Joe Martinek ran for 128 yards and a touchdown, while Tom Savage completed 15-of-30 passes for 194 yards with two scores. Mohamed Sanu had five receptions for 105 yards and a touchdown and also ran for a two- point conversion for the Scarlet Knights, who have won three straight since a loss to Pittsburgh. Tim Brown added a receiving score as part of a three- catch, 49-yard effort, and the Rutgers defense held USF to just 159 total yards in the game. The 25th-ranked Scarlet Knights figure to have an outstanding chance at a victory this coming weekend, as they will take on Syracuse.
SOUTH FLORIDA: The Bulls put forth an embarrassing performance against Rutgers last week, falling in a 31-0 final. The fact that South Florida entered the game ranked 23rd nationally and managed a mere 159 total yards against the Scarlet Knights was completely unexpected. B.J. Daniels threw for 129 yards and two interceptions on 7-of-17 passing for South Florida, which has lost three of four since starting the season 5-0. A.J. Love caught four passes for 80 yards, as the Bulls managed just seven first downs and had only nine plays in opposing territory. Up next for USF is a home clash with Louisville this Saturday.
SYRACUSE: The losses continue to mount for the Orange, who dropped a 10-9 decision to Louisville on the road this past weekend. Syracuse had the edge in total yards, 266-151, and in time of possession, 34:13 to 25:47, but was hurt by penalties. The Orange drew nine flags for a loss of 65 yards. Delone Carter's three-yard touchdown run with 12:58 left in the game gave Syracuse a 9-3 lead, but the Orange botched the extra-point attempt and that ended up proving costly. Carter picked up 129 rushing yards for the Orange on 28 carries. Syracuse quarterback Greg Paulus was 12-for-16 through the air for just 89 yards with one interception. The Orange are scheduled to play host to newly-ranked Rutgers this Saturday.
WEST VIRGINIA: The Mountaineers nearly upset Cincinnati, but the result was a heartbreaking 24-21 defeat. Jarrett Brown was 17-for-25 for 188 yards and a TD for the Mountaineers, who fell off the pace in the Big East race with their second loss in three contests. Brown also ran for a score, as did Ryan Clarke, while Brad Starks had the lone touchdown catch with 39 seconds remaining, bringing West Virginia within three points. Unfortunately, an onside kick was not recovered by WVU. Noel Devine gained 88 yards on 25 carries, as the electric runner was bottled up by Cincinnati for the most part. The Mountaineers won't play against until November 27th, when they are slated to host an outstanding Pittsburgh squad.
