Waco, TX (My Sportsbook) - Colt McCoy threw a pair of touchdowns to Jordan Shipley and Cody Johnson added two scores on the ground, as second-ranked Texas cruised to a 47-14 victory over Baylor at Floyd Casey Stadium.
McCoy, who tied the NCAA record for career victories by a starting quarterback, finished with 181 yards on 23-of-34 attempts for the Longhorns (10-0, 6-0 Big 12), while Johnson rushed for 109 yards on 19 carries.
McCoy improved to 42-7 in his career, matching the wins record set by former Georgia signal-caller David Greene.
Nick Florence completed 28-of-45 passes for 240 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions for the Bears (4-6, 1-5), who have dropped five of six.
The Longhorns got the ball to begin the game and McCoy capped the 10-play, 80- yard drive with a three-yard TD toss to Jordan Shipley.
Baylor moved the ball effectively on its first drive, but came away with no points as defensive back Aaron Williams picked off Florence in the end zone.
After Baylor failed to convert on fourth down at its own 44, the Longhorns put together a six-play drive that Johnson capped with a six-yard touchdown run with 1:56 remaining in the first quarter.
A 45-yard dash by Tre' Newton and a seven-yard scoring play between McCoy and Shipley extend Texas' lead to 28-0 with 6:41 left in the second quarter. Johnson's one-yard plunge up the middle made it 35-0 and the Longhorns tacked on a safety when Baylor's Justin Akers recovered a fumble in the end zone.
Hunter Lawrence booted a 41-yard field goal in the waning moments of the second quarter to give Texas a comfortable 40-point cushion at the break.
Eddie Jones' 59-yard interception return made it 47-0 with 7:37 to play in the fourth quarter. Terrance Ganaway broke the shutout a little over two minutes later with a one-yard run.
Brad Taylor's 19-yard TD reception accounted for the final score.
