HONOLULU (AP) -Hawaii center Douglas Kurtz must sit out the Rainbow Warriors' first six games because he played three games in a professional league in his native Brazil in 2007. Coach Bob Nash said on Wednesday that he decided against appealing the NCAA ruling so that Kurtz and the rest of the team won't have to deal with the uncertainty of his status. The 7-footer transferred to Hawaii from Marshalltown Community College in Iowa. Hawaii opens its season Friday at its own Rainbow Classic against Southern Utah. Kurtz will be eligible to play for the Rainbow Warriors against Lamar on Dec. 6.Copyright © 2005 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.
