PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Yankees center fielder Melky Cabrera left Game 4 of the World Series on Sunday night with a slightly strained left hamstring.

Brett Gardner took over in center in the sixth inning, with New York leading the Philadelphia Phillies 4-2. The Yankees went on to a 7-4 victory to take a 3-1 lead in the Series.

Cabrera took an awkward swing and appeared to hurt his leg while running out a grounder to first for the final out in the top of the sixth. Yankees manager Joe Girardi and assistant athletic trainer Steve Donohue came out to check on Cabrera near second base in the middle of the inning.

After the meeting, Cabrera took his position in center field, but before CC Sabathia threw another pitch, Girardi popped out of the dugout again, spoke to plate umpire Mike Everitt and removed Cabrera from the game.

Cabrera reached on an infield single in the fifth inning and scored New York's fourth run on Johnny Damon's single. The switch-hitter batted .274 this season with 13 homers and 68 RBIs, delivering some notable clutch hits.
