Philadelphia, PA (My Sportsbook) - Donovan McNabb threw for 240 yards and three touchdowns on 17-of-23 efficiency to lead the Philadelphia Eagles in a 40-17 rout of the bitter-rival New York Giants at Lincoln Financial Field.

LeSean McCoy totaled 82 yards and a score on 11 carries for the Eagles (5-2), who had three scoring plays of 40-plus yards despite playing without the injured Brian Westbrook. Leonard Weaver ran for 75 yards and a score on eight attempts, while Jeremy Maclin had a TD grab.

"It's always big when you can spread it around," said McNabb. "I thought today we were very balanced. I think we're just kind of touching the surface; I think the sky is the limit for us. When you have a game like this you want to have a better game next week."

DeSean Jackson had 78 yards and a touchdown on three receptions and Brent Celek added a TD catch for Philadelphia, which earned its second straight win and fourth in five tries. The Eagles moved ahead of the Giants into first place in the NFC East, tied with Dallas. The Cowboys visit Philadelphia next Sunday night.

Jackson has six TDs this season, all of which have gone for over 50 yards.

Eli Manning was a pedestrian 20-of-39 for 222 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions for the Giants (5-3), who lost their third straight game after starting the season with five consecutive wins. Kevin Boss was the leading receiver for New York with 70 yards and a score on three catches. Ahmad Bradshaw had a rushing touchdown for New York, which was without receiver Mario Manningham due to a shoulder injury.

Leading by 23 points in the third quarter, the Eagles muffed a kickoff and the Giants took over at the Philadelphia 23. Eight plays later, Bradshaw punched it in from a yard out to close it to 33-17 with 1:03 left in the third.

The Eagles answered immediately, as McCoy broke a 66-yard touchdown run on the following possession, which accounted for the final margin.

"We didn't tackle well, our secondary didn't tackle well," said Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. "We had created holes in the line of scrimmage, we didn't cover kicks well; we again threw interceptions...that's not the kind of football we teach. We definitely put ourselves in this funk -- whatever you want to call it."

Philly wasted no time in getting on the board. Starting at their own 40, it took the home team three plays to find paydirt. Weaver's 41-yard touchdown run capped the drive and made it 7-0.

On the ensuing New York touch, Asante Samuel picked off Manning right around midfield and ran it back to the Giants' 10. Three plays later, following a penalty, McNabb hit Celek for a 17-yard touchdown. The extra point was blocked and it was 13-0 with a bit over 11 minutes left in the first.

David Akers added a 30-yard field goal early in the second stanza to give the Eagles a 16-0 lead.

The Giants got the ball back later in the second quarter at their own 11. On 3rd-and-6, Manning hit Boss for a 22-yard gain. On the next play, Hakeem Nicks hauled in a 35-yard pass to move the ball to the Philadelphia 28-yard line. Later in the drive, Manning hit Boss for an 18-yard TD pass with 1:54 left in the half, which closed it to 16-7.

Philadelphia got those points back in 16 seconds, as Ellis Hobbs returned the kickoff to the 46 and Jackson hauled in a 54-yard TD pass on the first play from scrimmage.

"We recognize the way their safeties play," McNabb said. "Whenever you get in that situation you want to be able to take a shot."

Manning threw a pick on the next New York possession and again the home team capitalized. On the second play of the drive, McNabb hit Maclin for a 23-yard scoring strike to balloon the Eagles' lead to 30-7, which held up through the half.

"Bad decision on the throw," said Manning. "We got to get better, we had some drives where we moved the ball...we didn't finish at times. Overall, we're not converting on third downs and there's too many mistakes."

Domenik Hixon fumbled the opening kickoff of the second half and the Eagles recovered at the Giants' 21. The team failed to gain a first down and had to settle for a 35-yard field goal from Akers that made it 33-7.

The Giants were stopped on a 4th-and-4 on their next drive but got the ball right back. McNabb dropped back, was hit and fumbled the ball before Fred Robbins picked it up at midfield and started to run. As he was being tackled he managed to lateral the ball to Osi Umenyiora, who ran it all the way to the end zone.

The Eagles challenged the call that McNabb's arm was moving forward. It was not overturned, but the referees ruled that Robbins' lateral was a forward pass and the visitors started at the Philadelphia 42. Lawrence Tynes hit a 42-yard field goal that cut it to 33-10.

McNabb has won 10 of past 14 starts against New York...The touchdown run on the first drive was Weaver's fifth carry of the season...The Eagles hit the 40-point mark against the Giants for the first time since a 47-34 win at the Meadowlands on November 22, 1992...It was the largest margin of victory for the Birds against the Giants since 1996...Philly broke a four-game home losing streak to New York, tied for the longest string of futility in the Quaker City since the 1970 merger. The Eagles also dropped four straight to the Giants from 1997-2000, at Veterans Stadium...Despite the loss, the Giants still hold a 79-68-2 edge in a regular season series that dates back to the inception of the NFL in 1933.
