Birmingham, England (My Sportsbook) - Shay Given made five saves, including one on a penalty from James McFadden, and Manchester City escaped St. Andrews Stadium with a 0-0 draw against Birmingham City on Sunday. City opened the English Premier League season with five wins in its first six games, but has now tied its last four games. Despite the recent winless run, City still moved ahead of Tottenham and Liverpool into fourth with the point. Given saved Manchester City in the first half with a few good saves, including a 43rd-minute stop on Lee Bowyer that kept the match level at half. Birmingham, which has 11 points from 11 matches, got the break it needed 10 minutes into the second when Manchester's Nigel De Jong played the ball off his hand while challenging Sebastian Larsson for a head ball. Referee Mike Dean immediately pointed to the penalty spot, even though De Jong didn't appear to intentionally play the ball with his hand. McFadden lined up a left-footed shot, but his low drive toward the right post was gathered by a diving Given. Birmingham nearly made up for the miss in the 62nd when Cameron Jerome got off a header toward the upper left, but his eight-yard effort sailed just wide. Birmingham's Barry Ferguson received his second yellow for a foolish challenge on a throw-in in the fifth minute of stoppage time, but the loss didn't change the final seconds and the teams settled for the scoreless draw.
