Gelsenkirchen, Germany (My Sportsbook) - Vicente Sanchez scored in the 88th minute to help Schalke snatch a 2-2 draw against Bayer Leverkusen at Veltins Arena on Saturday.
The goal capped a spirited comeback from the home side as they fell behind by two goals at halftime with Toni Kroos and Stefan Kiessling putting Leverkusen in front.
However, Schalke pulled a goal back in the 83rd minute with Kevin Kuranyi scoring his sixth of the season, while Sanchez headed home a flick from Kuranyi two minutes from time.
The result leaves Leverkusen on top of the Bundesliga table, one point clear of both Werder Bremen and Hamburg, while Schalke remains two points off the pace.
Eren Derdiyok went close with a header in the 25th minute for Leverkusen, and they surged in front four minutes later when a corner kick was cleared only as far as Kroos at the edge of the area, and he volleyed it into the lower corner.
Kiessling then picked up his seventh goal of the campaign right before halftime when he outjumped a defender to head home Tranquillo Barnetta's free kick.
Another Barnetta cross in first-half stoppage time was headed on target by Kiessling, but Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer reacted well and tipped the ball onto the crossbar.
The response was much better in the second half from Schalke, and after they had a goal called back, Kuranyi forced home a goal during a scramble in front of the net.
The German striker then played provider five minutes later as he flicked a ball on for Sanchez, who got behind goalkeeper Rene Adler to head home the equalizer.
Hamburg could have taken over the league lead but they suffered a 3-2 defeat to Monchengladbach as Rob Friend scored in the 82nd minute, while Werder Bremen also missed out on a chance to take over first place as they needed two goals in the last 20 minutes from Aaron Hunt to earn a 2-2 draw with Nurnberg.
Bayern Munich and Stuttgart finished 0-0 at Mercedes Benz Arena, Wolfsburg was held to a 3-3 draw by Mainz despite two goals from Obafemi Martins, and a 37th-minute goal from Jan Rosenthal gave Hannover a 1-0 victory against Koln.
