Bochum, Germany (My Sportsbook) - Former Germany striker Heiko Herrlich has been confirmed as the new head coach of Bundesliga strugglers Bochum. The 37-year-old had been working with the Germany Under-17 and Under-19 sides, but has now signed a contract running until the summer of 2012 to try his hand in club football. Bochum have won just twice in 10 games this season, leading to the sacking of Marcel Koller just over a month ago. Sporting director Thomas Ernst told the club's official website: "Heiko comes from outside the club and will make a fresh start here. "He has clear ideas of what he wants to achieve at Bochum and how to meet his targets." As a player, Herrlich made his name during spells with Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Monchengladbach and Borussia Dortmund, while he also won five caps for Germany. (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
