Liverpool, England (My Sportsbook) - Fernando Torres and David Ngog scored, as Liverpool snapped a four-match losing streak with a 2-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday at Anfield.
Torres scored the opener in the 65th, and Ngog capped the win in stoppage time to lift Liverpool to fifth in the standings.
Liverpool had lost four straight in all competitions, including a 2-1 setback to Lyon at Anfield in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Torres, who missed that match, returned to bag his EPL-high ninth goal of the season and lead Liverpool to its third consecutive win over United even with captain Steven Gerrard sidelined.
United sits second, two back of Chelsea after the Blues crushed Blackburn, 5-0 on Saturday.
After a scoreless opening half, Torres swung the match in Liverpool's favor in the 65th. Yossi Benayoun freed the Spain striker down the right side and, even with United defender Rio Ferdinand on his hip, drove in and scored to the near post to beat Edwin van der Saar.
Liverpool had a chance to double its lead in the 71st but Lucas wasted an open look from 14 yards when he launched a shot well over the crossbar.
United's Wayne Rooney had a chance from the top of the 18 in the 77th, but the effort was denied by Liverpool's Jamie Carragher, who slid in to deflect the shot.
Manchester's best chance to level the match was in the 84th when Michael Owen did well to hold the ball in the area before passing an open Antonio Valencia.
Valencia was just a few yards off the end line, but still sneaked a shot past Liverpool goalie Pepe Reina only to watch it bounce off the crossbar.
Owen drew a free kick just outside the area in the 87th, but Nani drilled the shot right into Reina's arms to waste another chance for United.
United defender Nemanja Vidic was sent off in the 89th - his third straight ejection against Liverpool - for a foul on Dirk Kuyt, but United still created the next chance.
Ryan Giggs lofted a free kick from 35 yards out into the area and Valencia got a deflection on the edge of the box and chipped it to Rooney at the far post. The England striker did well to win the ball in traffic, but headed over the bar from seven yards in the 92nd.
Liverpool's Javier Mascherano joined Vidic in the locker room in stoppage time after a bad challenge on Van der Saar, but the home side still put the match away with the late goal.
Kuyt started an attack with a pass from the right to Lucas and he quickly sent a pass to the left to free Ngog behind two United defenders. Ngog drove in on Van der Saar and calmly slotted inside the right post to seal the win.
