Castellon, Spain (My Sportsbook) - Sweden's Michael Jonzon birdied the 18th hole Sunday for a one-shot win at the Castello Masters, his first European Tour victory in 12 years.

Jonzon captured his first title since the 1997 Portuguese Open with a steely 20-foot putt at the 18th, snapping a three-way tie for the lead with Martin Kaymer and Christian Nilsson.

"I'm on the moon," gushed Jonzon, who carded a four-under 67 in the final round and finished at 20-under 264. "It's been desperate for me and I am kind of speechless at the moment. It's unbelievable."

Kaymer, who also shot a 67, missed a 10-foot birdie putt that would have forced a two-man playoff. He joined Nilsson (65) in second place at 19-under 265.

Sergio Garcia, the 2008 champion, drained a long birdie putt at the 18th hole to shoot a 69 and take solo fourth place at 17-under 267.

Jonzon carried a one-shot lead into the final round, but that advantage disappeared when Garcia birdied his first two holes.

By the end of the front nine, however, the 37-year-old Swede had built a three-stroke lead after making three birdies and an eagle at the par-five eighth.

That set up a roller coaster back nine on the Club de Campo course that featured spirited charges from Kaymer and Nilsson and a whimpering finish from Garcia.

Nilsson, moving up from fifth place overnight, birdied six straight holes around the turn -- a rally capped by his 30-foot birdie putt at the 12th, which hung on the edge of the hole for several seconds before falling in.

He bogeyed the 13th, but collected his seventh birdie in eight holes at the 14th. Nilsson later bogeyed the 16th and was the first player in the clubhouse at 19-under.

Kaymer, meanwhile, recovered from a double-bogey at the 13th with three birdies over his next four holes. The last one was spectacular -- a curling 60-foot effort from the front of the 17th green that crossed into the fringe midway through its trip to the hole.

But Jonzon, although he sputtered at times, was left standing at the end.

Following a birdie at the 13th, Jonzon took a double-bogey at the 15th that left him with a one-shot lead. He then bogeyed the 17th, forcing a three-way tie at 19-under with Kaymer and Nilsson.

After draining his winning birdie putt at the 18th -- he could have just lagged it close and hoped Kaymer also missed, forcing a playoff -- Jonzon said it would take a while for the victory to sink in.

"I'm just so thrilled to have a playing status for next year and I'm so proud of myself the way I handled these days," said Jonzon, whose 264 total matched Garcia's winning score from the first year of the tournament.

Garcia, the world No. 10, was even-par on the back nine Sunday when he needed to be much better.
