San Antonio, TX (My Sportsbook) - Andy Bean carded his second straight four- under 67 to join Russ Cochran in the lead Saturday after two rounds of the AT&T Championship.
Cochran carded a three-under 68 as he and Bean finished 36 holes at eight- under-par 134.
Jay Haas also shot a 67 to move into third place at minus-seven.
Jeff Sluman (67) and Tom Kite (69) share fourth place at six-under-par 136.
Two-time defending champion John Cook managed a round of even-par 71 that included a bogey, two double-bogeys and five birdies. He is tied for 11th at three-under-par 139 at famed Oak Hills Country Club.
Bean rolled in a 12-footer for birdie at the first to get his round going. After tripping to a bogey on the sixth, he tapped in a four-foot birdie effort on eight to get back to minus-five.
The three-time winner on the Champions Tour sank a five-footer for birdie on 10. Bean two-putted for birdie at the 15th and made it two straight with a three-footer for birdie on 16. He parred the last two to share the second- round lead.
"I played well, very steady," Bean said. "My only hiccup was at the sixth. I hit a good putt there, I'm not sure why it didn't go in. I hit it well today. I hope I can hit it in the same places tomorrow."
Cochran missed the green at the third and that led to his first bogey. He recovered that lost stroke with a 20-foot birdie putt on No. 6.
The left-hander got up and down for birdie on the par-five 10th. Cochran played his third to the par-five 15th within a foot and kicked that in for birdie.
Cochran poured in a 35-footer for birdie at 16 and made it three in a row with a short birdie putt on the 17th. He was atop the leaderboard at minus-nine, but knocked his tee shot over the green at the last and that led to a closing bogey.
"The greens were lightning out there. I almost three-putted No. 9, that green was really quick," Cochran stated. "I hit seven-iron over the green at 18. I hammered it. It went about 12 yards longer than I wanted. I've got to get used to being in contention again."
Mark O'Meara, the 2007 runner-up, posted a one-under 70 and completed two rounds at five-under-par 137. He was joined there by Scott Simpson and Tim Simpson, no relation. They both shot 69 Saturday.
