Glasgow, Scotland (My Sportsbook) - Hibernian will head to the Ibrox Stadium on Saturday full of confidence as they meet Scottish Premier League leaders Rangers in a top-three clash.
Hibs has taken 10 out of a possible 12 points from its last four matches, moving the club to within two points of Walter Smith's men, who are coming off of an embarrassing 4-1 home defeat to Unirea in the Champions League in midweek.
Smith's club was booed off the field in a match that saw them concede two own goals and suffer a second straight 4-1 defeat in the competition, leaving the club on the bottom of its group.
While Rangers' play in Europe has been less than impressive, they have yet to taste defeat in league play, and Smith believes that a good test from Hibs on Saturday is just the type of match the team needs to get over its midweek defeat.
"In many ways tomorrow's is a good game to get because I don't think anyone, management or players, can say that we aren't going to be tested to the full," Smith said of the Hibernian contest.
"Hibs have started well, and outside of the Old Firm, are performing the best of any of the clubs so it's a big game for us."
Smith does have a few injury issues to contend with, however, as Pedro Mendes is expected to be for two months because of a knee injury, while Kevin Thomson suffered a shoulder problem in training and is doubtful.
Madjid Bougherra, Maurice Edu and Kirk Broadfoot are also still out with injuries.
Hibernian manager John Hughes has a relatively healthy side to take to Glasgow, but he should also be prepared for a Rangers side that is hungry to erase its most recent performance.
Second-placed Celtic sits one point off the pace and travels to second-from- the-bottom Hamilton on Sunday, while Aberdeen and Dundee United meet up at Pittodrie Stadium in a battle of top-half teams, Hearts entertains Falkirk, St Johnstone visits Kilmarnock and St Mirren plays host to Motherwell.
