Orchard Park, NY (My Sportsbook) - Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards sat out practice for a second straight day Thursday, recuperating from a concussion suffered in last Sunday's win against the New York Jets. The likelihood that Ryan Fitzpatrick will lead the offense on Sunday against Carolina increased as he again worked with the first team offense in Edwards' absence. Fitzpatrick took over for Edwards in the second quarter of Buffalo's 16-13 overtime triumph in Week 6 and ended 10-of-25 for 116 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Edwards completed each of his five passes totaling 43 yards before receiving a blow to the head on a sack by New York's Calvin Pace and David Harris. Edwards' body twisted in a weird way and he remained on the ground for a few minutes before being helped to the locker room. In addition to Buffalo's quarterback situation, the defense is hurting as well. Defensive tackle Kyle Williams (shoulder) was sidelined for a second straight day, as was safety Donte Whitner (ankle). Cornerback Terrence McGee (knee) and safety Bryan Scott (ankle) each took part in practice in a limited role on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's session. Offensive tackle Jonathan Scott (ankle) and tight end Shawn Nelson (illness) have also been unable to practice this week.
