Sunderland, England (My Sportsbook) - Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy is close to signing a new contract at the Stadium of Light. The 29-year-old's current deal runs out next summer, but manager Steve Bruce is keen to secure the services of Nosworthy on fresh terms. He told The Chronicle: "Nyron Nosworthy has been offered a new contract and I hope he will sign it within the next few days. "I'll be delighted if he signs because I think he has still got a role to play for us. He's well thought of here, I like him. "At the weekend against Liverpool when I had to make changes I considered bringing him on and the only thing that stopped me doing that was the fact that he hasn't played much football of late."
