Sunderland, England (My Sportsbook) - Sunderland defender Nyron Nosworthy is close to signing a new contract at the Stadium of Light. The 29-year-old's current deal runs out next summer, but manager Steve Bruce is keen to secure the services of Nosworthy on fresh terms. He told The Chronicle: "Nyron Nosworthy has been offered a new contract and I hope he will sign it within the next few days. "I'll be delighted if he signs because I think he has still got a role to play for us. He's well thought of here, I like him. "At the weekend against Liverpool when I had to make changes I considered bringing him on and the only thing that stopped me doing that was the fact that he hasn't played much football of late." Nosworthy joined the Black Cats in the summer of 2005 from Gillingham and has since made 116 appearances for Sunderland. (Courtesy of sportbox.tv)
